It is very surprise to world that Jaisalmer at Rajas than in India is a historical city of Rao Jaisal Dynasty 1156 AD, masonry construction are made of pure yellow stones. No water, no cement and no any binding materials are used. Heavy dressed stones are placed on each other to create walls and roofs. At that time no facility of cranes and means of transportation were available. The elephants were used for transporting heavy stones at the height of 280 feet. The architect was called “Gajdhar” on the name elephant which is given in the form of gift.
The yellow stone is soft to engrave beautiful designs of animals, birds, men etc. The love story of Mahendra and Mumal is carved on walls. Beside walls, door frames , lattices and peep-holes are also examples of carving. Yellow fort knows as Sonar kila , Salam singh’s haveli , Nathamal’s haveli , Patawa Haveli , Jain temples are famous structures. Thousands of national and international tourists are coming for visiting Jaisalmer every year. Rajas than tourism and Indian tourism and trip agencies are engaged for developing this center.
Beside these ancient buildings, Jaisalmer is famous for camel safari. Tourists ride on the back of camel and wandered on the sand dunes of Chham. This city is connected by roadways bus, palace on wheel train and airways. The communication facility of mobile phones, broad band internet is available. This city is full of cheap hotels and handicraft shops.
